This year we will learn about Norman Rockwell and we will reproduce two of his paintings for Pageant of the Arts- The Connoisseur and The Critic.

30th Pageant of the Arts
Thursday, April 19 Friday, April 20 and Saturday, April 21 at 7 p.m. Saturday Event: Saturday Afternoon At McGaugh 11 to 2 p.m.

We are currently working on:
Lesson 1: Norman Rockwell: Artist and Illustrator
After viewing a video about Norman Rockwell's life and some of his art work, students will decorate the cover of their portfolio by illustrating an event they experienced during summer vacation. {6} Lesson 2: Norman Rockwell: The ConnoisseurAfter
viewing a slide show about about Norman Rockwell's respect for the modern art movement, students did four mini paintings in the style of Jackson Pollock, Georgia O'Keeffe, Piet Mondrian and Stuart Davis.

Lesson 3: Norman Rockwell: The Critic: A Lesson in Color TheoryAfter
viewing a slide show about Color Theory, students mixed the primary colors into secondary and intermediate colors to paint a palette and create an Impressionistic landscape inspired by the former Pageant artist David Hockney's Nichols Canyon Road. {o}
Lesson 4: Norman Rockwell:Art History: Pageant of the Arts: 30th Anniversary
Students will research a past Pageant artist, reproduce the art work and will give an oral report about the artist to the class.
