Welcome
Wow!  Only 25 days of fifth grade left and then you'll all be off to middle school!  We have 5 weeks and they are filled with lots of exciting activities. 

 

The week of 5/14 you will be presenting your president projects as well as learning about Ansel Adams and his unique style as a photographer.  You will be assigned your last at home project which is the famous "Fifth Grade Photo Study."

 

The week of 5/29 is a short week for you all because you have Monday 5/28 and Friday 6/1 off.  Don't worry though, it will be an exciting week!  Photography Projects are due and we will have a fifth grade gallery evening on Thursday 5/31 especially for you and your families.  Time TBA.

 

The week of 6/4 is the last full week of school and all grading will be closed in order to prepare your last report cards!  It is also the famed Family Life week.  Permission slips will go home prior to the start of the unit. 

 

Sound like fun?  It truly is a great last couple of weeks.  In addition to the fun above, we will be spending time doing Hands On Algebra, continuing our histrical fiction book clubs, doing some lyric studies, and learning to write pursuasively.  We will also conintue looking at the remaining body systems and will do an in-class research project on diseases.  In Social Studies we will explore how our countries government was created and (if there is time) how the western regions of our country grew in population. 

 

You have been a wonderful class and I am excited to see your photography and hear your reports.

Our PE Schedule varies weekly at this point.  PE testing is complete and with testing, middle school visits and other end of the year activities we go when our schedule allows.  Typically we are out for PE at least 3 days a week, thus providing those 100 minutes!

 

Monday: Jiji LAB 8:10-8:45

             Music 11:15-12:00

Wednesday: Media/Computer Lab 8:15-9:15
                   Art 10:30-11:30 (5/9, 5/23, 6/6)

Friday: Spirit Run with Mr. MacDonald 1:50-2:10
