2015-2016 School Year Coming to a Close

Dear Parents and Students,

It is amazing to think that the school year is quickly coming to a close. The rest of the second semester will be both busy and rewarding for students, parents, and staff. In addition to the many activities tied to the end of the year, our administrative team is beginning to plan for 2016-2017 while parents are reviewing registration forms, thinking about their child’s placement for the fall.

Although we try not to move teachers to a different grade level or content area, this may occur, and is based upon student enrollment and teacher credentialing. Over the last two weeks parents have called with specific requests for teachers for next year.  We are deeply committed to properly placing all students based upon learning needs that may require a specific teaching style.

If your student has specific learning needs, please feel free to contact me during the month of May to share those needs. By the middle of May we will have more information about enrollment and teacher content/grade level placements. After parent input our administrative team will hold placement meetings to create the best possible schedule for your student. We will not honor requests for specific teachers.

Please do not hesitate to contact me by email (aallen@losl.org) or by phone (714/816-3320, extension 77103) with questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Ann Allen, Principal

STEAM Fair 2016 a Hugh Success!

McAuliffe’s STEAM Fair, sponsored by LAEF, was held this past Friday and it was a remarkable event! With over 130 students participating, rooms 60 & 61 were filled with students’ experiments. Science classes visited throughout the day, and student presenters talked about their findings. A big thank you to Mrs. Ann Neufeld, coordinator of the event, and to all of the science teachers who assisted students with their experiment designs after school over the last few months. And another thank you to LAEF, for supporting McAuliffe students and STEAM education.
