Parent Education Opportunities
A CHOC Child Psychologist will provide education on anxiety in children and teenagers in comparison to other common mental health conditions. Additionally, they will teach skills for engaging with an anxious child and determining when to seek additional help. A brief review of resources available, within the community, to help children and teens address their anxiety will also be provided.

Come learn from a CHOC Mental Health Therapist about why your children and teens may experience anxious feelings and what that anxiety may be telling them. Learn strategies to help children and teens address anxiety symptoms in the moment as well as ways to support lifestyle management of anxiety symptoms.

In this training you will gain an understanding of how special education staff, with your input and collaboration, develop your child's IEP document. In addition, the IEP document will be explained page by page. Increasing your understanding of the IEP process and IEP document will assist you in becoming a more effective and confident member of the IEP Team.

This presentation will review how to identify symptoms of depression in youth. As part of the presentation, a CHOC Pediatric Psychologist will also provide strategies parents and caregivers can use to help their child cope with symptoms of depression as well as provide insights into when and how to seek professional help.

This presentation will be provided by a CHOC Psychologist and will focus on expanding the community’s understanding of common symptoms and behaviors associated with depression, across different environments. Additionally, the presentation will provide the audience with strategies that caregivers/general public can use to help support those with depression.

Eating Disorders 101:The Facts on How Eating Disorders Impact Youth
This presentation will provide an overview of eating disorders that are common in children and teens. As part of the presentation, audience members will be able to identify hallmark symptoms of an eating disorder. The presentation will also teach caregivers, parents and the general public how to help children/teens foster a healthier relationship with food as well as with their body image in an effort to reduce disordered eating behaviors.

Community Advisory Committee (CAC)
The Community Advisory Committee (CAC) is operated through the SELPA and is comprised of parents, educators and community members. The primary purpose of the committee is to facilitate communication and understanding, leading to improved special education programs and related services, and to assist in the development of the Local Plan for Special Education which is submitted to the State Department of Education for approval. Each district is allowed 2-4 participants.
