Through this program, American students act as host families for German students who come to Los Alamitos every Fall for 4 weeks to learn about American culture and travel around Southern California. The American students who hosted German students then travel to Stuttgart, Germany for a month in the summer to attend a German school, live with a host family and learn about German culture through travel, education and language. The program is an excellent way for students learning German to improve their German and prepare for more advanced language study such as AP German. While I don't coordinate the GAPP program any longer, Mr. Hansen does and can give you further information about signing up to host a German student and traveling to Germany. His email is email@example.comTo see previous GAPP Exchange pictures, please scroll to the very bottom of this page!AATG German Summer Study Program (Perfect for German 3, 4 & AP Students!)
The German Summer Study Program for High School Students provides a three-week homestay and school experience. Students attend classes at a Gymnasium, live with the family of a host brother or sister who attends the school, visit regional attractions, and experience the German language and culture firsthand. Students return speaking German better—with a greater sense of confidence, maturity, and independence.
The program is sponsored in cooperation with the German government's Pedagogical Exchange Service (PAD). Over 2,600 students have benefited from this unique experience since the program was created in 1978!AATG Summer Study Program (Please click the link to the left to find out more about the AATG Summer Study Program in Germany.
