    STEP BY STEP CLUB

    PURPOSE

    The Step by Step Club encourages students to develop a healthy lifestyle from an early age by gaining knowledge about nutrition and exercise.

    MISSION

    The Step by Step Club promotes improving the fitness level of our students by emphasizing running/walking as a fun activity that can be enjoyed now and throughout life.  In addition to fitness, running and walking have been shown to improve self-esteem, academic performance, and energy levels.

    PROGRAM COMPONENTS

    Students are required to walk/run as indicated below.  Log-in forms can be accessed at www.losal.org/lae under the “Programs” tab.  Click on Step by Step Club and it will take you to the log-in forms.

    Components

    Grades 2-3

    Grades 4-5

    Goal Achievement

    Weeks 1-3: Walk/run 5 days a week during lunch or it can be made up during the weekend.

    10 minutes/day

    15 minutes/day

    All grades: Step by Step t-shirt

    Weeks 4-6: Walk/run 5 days a week during lunch or can be made up during the weekend

    20 minutes/day

    30 minutes/day

    Grades 4-5: Earn a pedometer.

    Monthly Friday Meeting: Eat lunch while meeting for 15 minutes

    Monthly Drawings: Drawing conducted at monthly meeting

    Every 15 days of participation within a 3-week period

    TIMELINE
