Los Alamitos USD: Wellness Policy
School Wellness is a District-Wide effort. We know that student health and wellness are integral components to student success in school. We conduct periodic monitoring of the implementation of the District's Wellness Policy and review findings and make adjustments to programs and services accordingly.
There are a variety of indicators to measure the implementation and outcomes of our Wellness Policy. One such indicator is our District's performance on the California Physical Fitness Test (CPFT) administered to students in grades 5, 7, and 9. The most recent results for the CPFT are available from the 2014-2015 school year at the following link: 2014-2015 Los Al USD CPFT.
We periodically evaluate our local Wellness Policy against updated "Model Policies" as recommended by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The results of the self-evaluation drive a continuous process of identifying needs, developing goals, monitoring policy implementation, and measuring progress on key indicators of wellness (e.g., CPFT, student attendance, and graduation rates). Our most recent Wellness Policy Review was completed on November 10, 2016 using the Rudd Center's WellSAT2.0 indicator and is available here:
