Welcome back new and returning Griffins, Parents, Teachers, Administration, and Staff all around campus for another thrilling school year, at Los Alamitos High School. I am especially excited to welcome all new students and parents to one of the nation’s truly elite High Schools! This will be an especially exciting year for Los Al as we celebrate our 50th Anniversary serving the community, on October 14, 2017.
I am honored to have been selected to serve as your PTSA President this coming school year. I will continue to devote my time in thriving to make a positive impact on our students, their families, and our teachers. The purpose of the PTSA is to facilitate parental participation in our High School. I would like to invite all of you to attend our monthly PTSA Association meetings held on the 2nd Monday of the month in room 500 at 9:00am (unless otherwise noted on the school's calendar). Our meetings provide a fantastic opportunity to connect with other parents and get informed about things going on at Los Al. You will regularly hear from the school’s Principal, Dr. Martinez, as well as his Administrators, Counselors, and occasionally from the District’s Superintendent, Dr. Kropp.
Once you join the PTSA you will receive an email invitation to go on Signup.com. There you will find many opportunities throughout the school year for volunteering. You will also receive our LAHS PTSA Monthly newsletter. You can always speak to the PTSA Board at any of our monthly meetings should you have questions or would like to get involved on campus.
Why join PTSA? PTA is the oldest and largest Child Advocacy Association in America solely run by volunteers. We advocate for all children at the federal, state and local levels. Your PTSA membership ensures that PTA’s voice is heard on issues affecting young people as well as providing opportunities for parent education, communication, and leadership development. We encourage all students, parents, teachers, and staff to join to help make this happen. Your $10 needed membership supports:
- Student Incentives: (Summer school and throughout the school year)
- Campus Beautification
- Senior Griffins Scholarships
- Senior of the Week Award Program
- Teachers Grants
- Reflections Art Program
- Award of Academic Excellence Ceremony
- Staff Appreciation Events & Back to School Luncheon
- Grad night Scholarships, Special Education
- Adult Transitional Program
- Parent Education Event
- Mentor Breakfast, to just name a few.
This will be an especially exciting year for Los Al as we celebrate our 50th Anniversary serving the community, on October 14, 2017. For this terrific commemoration, PTSA is selling very unique Royal Blue Beach Towels. Check out the Commemorative 50th Anniversary Beach Towels link to order them.
I look forward to meeting and getting to know you at our meetings and around campus. Thank you for your support, and let’s make 2017/18 a terrific year to remember!
